The season to celebrate without any reason has arrived……the Monsoon has begun………like a magic band it has swept & transformed the landscape from a seemingly lifeless, parched brown of summer to a verdant green ……… all the heat and lethargy of the previous months are washed away by this beautiful downpour………And the best way to experience the beauty of the monsoon is…….on foot, walking around in the forest……..we invite you all to join us for free Tree Appreciation Walk at Silonda Trail in SGNP, Mumbai……..  Forest floor is full of its magic……..Gulvel, Ghotvel, Norvel, Kantola, Anantmol, all are clamoring to climb up on the trees of Shisham, Chironji, Haldu, Kusum, Bhorsal and many more.

The 40thth walk is on Sunday 7th July, 2013

Venue:  Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Borivali

Time:  7.30

Duration of walk:  2 hours

Meeting Point: SGNP’s gate near the ticket window.

Please buy your ticket which is Rs.33.40/- per head. Car ticket is approximately Rs 100.

Also note we have to pay Rs 50 to forest department for entering the trail and Rs 10 for the forest guide. Please  pay the said money to your group leader and kindly bring exact change so we do not waste time]

 Most Important:

1. Silonda Trail is a restricted area and we have taken permission to conduct the walk there. It is about 1 km inside the park from the main gate.

2. Please register with us by 3rd July as we have to inform the forest office in advance. This time we are restricting the number to 35 participants only.

3 Its not possible for us to arrange for the vehicle from gate to Silonda, please make your own arrangements to reach there which is just 1 km from the main gate. Please  do car pooling…do little net working.

Very Important : Please Don’t be late, specially those who are coming for the 1st time for the trail in the park & not familiar with the area….there will be other groups also for their walks and it will be very difficult to locate us once we leave for Silonda. Also the queue for tickets will be very long so do come early.

And as you all are aware that in forest we have to follow certain Do’s & Don’ts……..Here are some….

 a)     Please wear dull cloths only……preferably dark green, brown, black.

 b)    No plastics bags or wrappers…..carry food or snacks in boxes which you carry back home.

 c)   Carry Odomos or any mosquito repellent, drinking water.

 f)    Have proper  rain wear & good rainy shoes.

 g]  Stay with the group.

h] Each one responsible for their own safety .

 I] Take nothing from nature.

Leave nothing behind except your footprints.

Take lots of pictures and memories.

Park gate opens at 7.30 am.

List of the trees which we are planning to show will be send later.

 Hope to see you all,

 Cheers,

 TAW Team

The rain & the regeneration is happening in full swing in the national park………The beautiful &  majestic trees everywhere in the park,  are quiet & subdued, totally immersed in their seasonal work of making & storing food…………….. the sheer varieties of climbers are rushing to reach on top of them & touch their canopy…….……..the delicate herbs are in hurry to complete their life cycle in the monsoon…………..one can feel the energy & synergy among the flora & fauna (butterflies, bugs, beetle, grass hoppers, praying mantis, spiders, crabs etc) in there……. Hope to see you all.

Here is the list of the plants which we are planning to show during our Walk……
