Youth Hostels Association of India, Rajasthan State Branch is organizing Aravalli Ranakpur Kumbhalgarh Trekking Expedition 2013 for the sixth time in the historical World Famous Ranakpur Jain Temples& famous range of Aravalli Hills. These hills are up to 3500ft. high above the sea level.
Rajasthan, better known as a desert area has a surprise in the form of Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary situated amidst the sylvan charms & the winding valleys attracting the trekkers. Alluring flora& fauna are the special characteristics here. The place is bejeweled with verdurous forest & resounding valleys. It is a great exploring place for the trekkers.Kumbhalgarh is the birth place of Maharana Pratap. Kumbhalgarh fort wall is the second largest wall in the world. Its length is 36km and width is 36ft. Rajasthan is synonymous with bravery, sacrifice and austerity. The infinite variety of its historical settings, its varied flora & fauna, the history of its people & the variety of its ethnic communities & their rich heritage of ancient traditions & lifestyles make it a trekking wonderland that is just to be discovered.
 
PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAM
The purpose of the program is to create in the minds of the youths a sense of love for the countryside, by way of offering them a new trekking route & thereby providing them an outdoor recreational activity with the aim of promoting the National Integration & bringing them together from all parts of the country.
 
REPORTING PLACE & DATES
Report at Shaktimata Temple (Base Camp) near Shilpi Tourist Bungalow, Ranakpur (Pali), Rajasthan on any date from 6th Nov. to 10th Nov. 2013.
 
AGE
Minimum age to participate in this expedition is 10years. The age restriction will be strictly followed.
 
FEES
Rs.2800/- per head. DD in favor of “YHAI, RAJASTHAN STATE BRANCH”, Payable at Jaisalmer, which will cover the stay, simple nutritious vegetarian food, transportation, guidance, equipment & insurance. You will however have to bear to & fro travel expenses from your home town to reporting camp at Ranakpur Rajasthan. Special Rajasthani Dishes at Dinner & with YHAI Logo Cap.

Reporting at Base Camp & Orientation

Trek to Phutadeval (11km)- 7hr
Day 3
Trek to Kumbhalgarh via Aarth Village (14km) – 7hr
Day 4
Trek to Kumbhalgarh Fort & Thandiberi (13km) – 6hr.
Day 5
Trek to Muchhala Mahavir Temple (2 ½ km), 1 hr. Return by bus to Base Camp Ranakpur. Group breaks after Lunch.
 
 
HOW TO REACH
By train: Ranakpur base camp is situated just 35km away from Falna railway station. Falna is well connected to Delhi, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Jaipur & Jodhpur by various trains.
 
By Road: It is in between Udaipur& Jodhpur on the state highway no. 32. 90km away from Udaipur, 165km from Jodhpur, 145km away from Mt. Abu.
 
By Air: Maharana Pratap Air Port (Dabok) at Udaipur is about 105 km. Other important tourist attractions:  Mt. Abu, Jodhpur, Haldighati, Udaipur, Nathdwara & Chittorgarh.
 
HOW TO APPLY
Members desirous of joining this program may apply on a prescribed Registration Form duly supported by a Medical Certificate which is available from Units/ State Branches and National Office.
 
WHAT TO BRING
Rucksack, cotton shirts, cotton pants, woolen jersey, woolen muffler, or monkey cap, hunter shoes, torch with spare batteries, water bottle, lunch box, mug/ glass, plate, spoon, water purifying tablets, pen-knife, needle, thread, spare buttons, goggles, cold cream or Vaseline, soap, toilet paper, towel, medicines which you normally use.
CANCELLATION
In case you are unable to join the camp after paying participation fee, you will get a refund of 50% provided your request is receive in writing (not by Email) directly in the office of Rajasthan State Branch at least 15 days in advance from the date of your reporting. No refund will however, be admissible, if such notice is short of 15 days. Refund will be given after completion of program.
 
SAFETY
Extensive & painstaking preparations have gone into the planning of trekking expedition route for your safety. Our field staff & experienced camp leaders have visited the area to check all details. While every care has been taken to ensure safety, the Youth Hostels Association of India or its Rajasthan State Branch will not be responsible or any accident, illness & such other unforeseen eventualities.
 
Deviation from the set route of the program is not permitted. If participants desire to join any other activity, they may do so at their own responsibility & risk only after finishing the trek& checking out.

Participants, who successfully complete the expedition and abide by the discipline of the program, will be awarded certificate.
 
SPECIAL CASUAL LEAVE
Participants, who successfully complete the expedition and abide by the discipline of the program, will be eligible for special casual leave.
 
ADVENTURE SCHOLARSHIP FOR THE PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED YOUTH
YHAI Rajasthan State Branch announces 50 adventure scholarships at 50% fees to physically challenged youth including deaf & dumb for this expedition. Deserving participants may apply to the YHAI Rajasthan State Branch on a plain paper supported by relevant certificates.
 
YOUR ATTENTION
Please note that this is an environment friendly trek. Do not litter any wrapper or spoil the trail in any way. In case you find any wrapper, plastic bag or anything left by trekkers on the way, please carry the same with you for disposing at the next camp.

Burning of wood during camp fire is strictly prohibited. Carrying any non biodegradable material in Rajasthan is an offence.
 
Smoking, use of alcohol and narcotics of any description are strictly prohibited during the course of the program.

The arrangement has been made to accommodate 20 families at the base camp on following dates:

Visit to Haldighati, Kumbhalgarh Fort, Light & sound show

Farewell after breakfast
 
NOTE: All site seeing shall be at your own cost. Our volunteers will help you in planning your program.
 
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE
A family consisting of Husband wife & two children up to the age of 12 yr. Fee includes, tented accommodation, vegetarian food & gift memento. Participants will bear to & fro travel expenses from their home to the base camp & all site seeing shall be at your own cost.

By Train: Ranakpur Base Camp is situated just 35km away from Falna Railway Station. Falna is well connected to Delhi, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Jaipur & Jodhpur by various trains.

ACCOMMODATION
One tent at the base camp shall be given to each family. Ground sheet, blankets, bed sheet & pillow shall be provided.
 
FOOD
Morning tea, breakfast, lunch/ packed lunch, evening tea & dinner shall be provided. Simple vegetarian, good quality nutritious food shall be served at the camp. Please bring your own plates, mugs, spoons, tiffin box for packed lunch.
NOTE: Special Rajasthani dishes in dinner (Dal Bati, Churma, Bajra Roti, Ker Sangri, Besan Gatta Sabzi, Methi Mirch Sabzi, Sweet Punchdhari)

DESERT TREKKING EXPEDITION (RAJ.)- 2013
On a popular demand from our members, Youth Hostels Association of India, Rajasthan State Branch is organizing the Desert Trekking Expedition, 2013 in the Jaisalmer region of the Great That Desert of Rajasthan.
The expedition will commence on 25th Dec’2013. The last group of participants will report on 31st Dec 2013.
 
Purpose of the programme
The purpose of the programme is to create in the minds of the youths a sense of love for the countryside, by way of offering them a new trekking route and thereby providing them an our door recreational activity with the aim of promoting the national integration and bringing them together from all part of country.
 
Reporting place and dates
You may report at Border home guards (base camp) opp hotel heritage, Sam road, Jaisalmer (Rajasthan) on any date from 25th Dec to 31st Dec2013.
 
Fees
Rs.3000/. per head, DD favouring “ YHAI Rajasthan state branch” payable at Jaisalmer, which will cover the stay, simple, nutrious vegetarian food. Transportation, Guidance, equipment and insurance. You will, however ,have to bear to and fro travel expenses from your home town to reporting camp at Jaisalmer,Rajasthan.special Rajasthani dishes in dinner & with YHAI logo cap.

Base Camp for the programme is established in the border home guards ground, Jaisalmer, 2 kms.from bus stand and 4 km from railway station.
Jaisalmer is connected by train service with Delhi, Hawarah, Jaipur,Jodhpur,Bikaner. It is also connected by road with Delhi, Ahmedbad, Kucch, Pune, Mumbai, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Jaipur, Ajmer & Udaipur. Nearest airport is Jodhpur.
