I can see fruits, but I dont know if the seeds are viable and if viable, do they give rise to similar plants? if yes then this is Dendrobium lawianum and not Dendrobium crepidatum. OK thanks … I would go with Dendrobium lawianum; since I am aware the posted plant is growing wild (meaning – not planted / cultivated) I am certain the seeds are viable, and like-plants would be the result.
I changed the names at this last minute during posting looking at the full confidence of The Plants List. Nice to see Orchids on Kathal Tree also. Kathal is infact a very good host for epiphytic orchids. Yes they are two separate entities. I dont follow the Kew checklist for this particular species. Ref-3: Flora of Karnataka 1 Ref-4: Flora of Karnataka 2 As per the description of D.lawianum, the flowers are white, with a tinge of pink, lip oblong, white and glabrous with two red spots at the base of the column.
