Oxygonum sinuatum (Hochst. & Steud ex Meisn.) Dammer
An exotic from Africa that has been reported recently from Bangalore.
Belonging to family Polygonaceae.
Photographed in May from Lalbagh.

This plant is taking over one portion of Lalbagh Botanical Garden. Seems harmless but grows in large numbers. I suppose the three sided seeds get transported easily.

a species of polygonum….???…

Doesnt seem to be, …

Could this be a Verbenaceae member?

Is there SPINES ON THE FRUITS?…PLEASE CHECK…

Perhaps dissection of flower and fruit is needed to identify this plant. If that is the case, for now, this plant remains as a member of Polygonaceae.

this has been identified as Oxygonum sinuatum. A recenty introduced plant.
