Campanulaceae & Gentianaceae Week: Gentianaceae ::Canscora sp. Unidentified from Doraikatte Hill, Karnataka: I had shared this earlier but reposting this as a part of ongoing C & G week. Based on inputs received, this could be some sp. of Canscora. As per …, this could turn out to be some new sp. of Canscora. In absence of any specimen with me, its bit difficult to conclude. Nevertheless, i thought of sharing this once again..
This small herb was spotted at the top of Doraikatte Hill (near Motigudda), Karnataka.

Herb was hardly 3cm in height, flower single, hardly 4 to 6mm across, pinkish coloured.

Does not fit with images at Canscora diffusa (Vahl) R.Br. ex Roem. & Schult.

Last image 3929 looks different from others.

I find it close to images at Canscorinella stricta (Sedgwick) Nampy & Shahina & as per Shahina PM, Santhosh Nampy. 2014. A taxonomic revision of the genus Canscora in South India, and the erection of the new genus Canscorinella (Canscorinae, Gentianaceae) with two new combinations.” Phytotaxa 164(4): 201–225. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11646/phytotaxa.164.4.1.

Can it be a young plant ?

Pl. give your views.

May be close to Canscora diffusa only.

Beautiful pictures of the cute flower. I think it is a member of Gentianaceae.

Is it some species of Centaurium?

Exacum sp ?

Gentianaceae for sure.
I am attaching the Exacum pumilum species found in Kaas. Attachments (1).

it look like some Centaurium sp.

Gentianaceae member for sure, most probably Exacum sp.
