In C.jwarancusa, the leaves are linear, long and parallel at the base, whereas in C.martinii, the leaves are lanceolate and cordate at the base. C.martinii is seen as individual culms or in small clumps whereas C.j is found as a thick clump;

request for identification of the cymbopogon grass in Eastren ghats : 4 posts by 3 authors. Attachments (6).
these 3 species are tufted species, roots fragrant, due to differences in spikes the three could not be correctly differentiated, pls help me in the identification

Cymbopogon martinii from Hamdard Herbal Garden, Delhi:
After the comparison of height of two plants and the breadth of leaves, I have a feeling that these two plants were wrongly labelled. This I feel should be C. jawarancusa (Jones) Schult. (syn: Andropogon jawarancusa Jones; A. himalayensis Gand.) and the other plant uploaded by me should be C. martinii.

Need help to identify this grass growing
On side walls of mud cliff of Yamuna ravine
Crushed leaves are aromatic

Cymbopogon jwarancusa
In sanskrit, “jwara” means fever and “ancusa” means ankush=remove
So, this is a Cymbopogon which is having medicinal properties in relieving fever.

Need help with apluda-like grass : 8 posts by 3 authors.

Shot in Bhopal, black soil, today (5.10.20). This grass superficially resembles apluda mutica but:
– nodes are hairy
– leaf sheath is hairy
– spathe-like sheath is hairy
– has a distinctly pleasant smell
– each sheath produces bunches of pedicelled spikelets
Any help will be great!
