I afraid whether this is P. flavida.
2-3m for P. flavida is unusual P. flavida is generally tend to spread within 1-2m and spreads down. Further roots would develop from the nodes of the drooping branches and later that rooting branch start act as a different individual. A weak shrub, in general appearance.
The alternate or whorled inflorescence branching is against the key character of P. flavida as per Gamble (Vol-II, page 638).
The key says;
Branches of inflorescence opposite Inflorescence spreading Corymbiform…. in the key these characters are not there in this plant.
Further, the inflorescence branches turn to bright yellow when in fruit and the fruits looks different for me. You can still see the corymbiform inflorescence of P. flavida in fruit stage as well.
I am working on the pictures I will get back as soon as I get any lead.
Thank you very much for providing supportive information that enabled to go for a critical evaluation. Please check Psychotria macrocarpa Hook.f. http://www.arkive.org/psychotria-macrocarpa/image.html
A further clarification, are you sure that all the pictures belongs to same species/individual? Because first two pictures looks different from the rest of the pictures and those two pictures seems to be P. flavida. Psychotria is a very difficult genus to be identified. The main key starts with the pyrenes. That key chracter is missing here. Better to drop its identity until somebody comes up its seed characters. To me appears close to images at Psychotria truncata Wall. |
