Giving details of Flora of British India, from IBIS Flora links (Rungia elegans Dalzell & A.Gibson):
Dalz. & Gibs. Bomb. Fl. 196 ; stems patently white- hirsute, leaves subsessile ovate acuminate, bracts round ovate apiculate minutely hairy, corolla 1/2 in. fine blue. R. repens var. villosa, Nees in DC. Prodr. xi. 472. Justicia repens, Wall. Cat. 2459, letter B partly.
W. DECCAN PENINSULA ; Concan and Canara, Wight, Law, Stocks, &c.
Possibly a large form of R. repens. Leaves attaining 3 by 1.1/2 in., nerves beneath prominent, often patently white-hairy. Spikes 1/2-2/3 in. broad ; bracts large, scarious margin very prominent sometimes coloured purplish. Capsule 1/4 in., thin, very hairy ; seeds concentrically furrowed, the ridges very sharp sometimes crested.

id: Could this be a species of Rungia??

This is definately Rungia species. the upper lip is two lobed. Check Fl of Maharashtra –Almeida Sir (in his flora the species are differentiated on the basis of the bracts margin and lobation of upper lip) (i dont have the flora for the reference).

Thanks, …, Only issue is that leaves are a bit different from some of the posts at Justicia concinna
But there are quite a lot of variation in the leaves of Rungia species.

I think leaf is representative of species, also, plant is young and in an older plant leaf character will change, so with change in climate.

I have the feeling that the following may also be Justicia repens, basing on this post and other tow posts (Acanthaceae Fortnight :: Rungia elegans :: Bhimashankar WLS :: DVMAR103/114 and Rungia elegans) :

efi thread this has a nice spike, tall wide, colorful… J. concinna.
Plant 17 last of this lot from Sahyadri is definitely J. concinna, even leaf is sessile.
Rungia sp. for id from Morena, M.P is looking like J. concinna, leaves are sessile, linear lanceolate and not amplexicaul. Spike has color, but not have width.

– Its Rungia sp. The bracts seen in picture are very typical of the genus

I think this should not be Justicia repens with bracts appearing to be dimorphic and not appearing to be uniform.

Then what ? Justicia concinna ?

Yes sir, Rungia repens for me too, but in FOI name has been given to a species not appearing to be Rungia.

The species posted here is no longer seen in FOI. This species is very common in Surat. I sure wd. like the confusion to be cleared .

I think I have to begin looking at all the specimen more closely. It seems there is erect vs prostrate plus size bigger vs smaller plus bracts margin white vs colored → concinna vs repens.
