A new fern ABJUL01/02 : 2 posts by 1 author. (4 + 1) images.
I photographed this fern yesterday too. This is commonly growing on our slopes. Though the sori are not yet developed, the impressions are there. I am at a loss here and cannot identify it. Please advise.

Two replies from … including a new photo of rhizome. He confirms this to be Polypodiodes microrhizoma.
Polypodiodes microrhizome, or P. lachnopus – must see the rhizome – if superficial and covered in long-attenuate hair-like scales it’s lachnopus “woolly foot” in Greek – can you photo the rhizome too?
Ah yes, so it is indeed P. microrhizoma, with its rhizome merely scaly, not with the great long woolly scales of lachnopus, and more buried in the substrate.  Sometimes they become lobed like this one, occasionally even more so, otherwise not so.
