Polypodioides lachnopus ABJUL01/04 : 2 posts by 2 authors. 9 images. This morning on my walk I took this sample growing on a tree to look at it more closely and later found it to be the Polypodioides lachnopus. The rhizome was long and shared by many other fronds, so I had to break it to retrieve my sample. The rhizome is very furry covered in dense brown hair. The frond about 33cm long with 26 well developed pair of pinnae. The apex is well tapered with about 8 lobes on both sides. I brought the sample home to look under the microscope and found the scales on stipe well resembling those of P. lachnopus with the illustration in Dr Khullar’s book. Dr Fraser-Jenkins confirms it to be P. lachnopus. This is the second Polypodioides I have found in July–the first being P. microrhizoma (see my mail under: A new fern ABJUL01/02)

Location: Nagarkot, Nepal
Altitude : 6000 ft.
Date: 18 July 2018
Habit : Wild Poor photos of rhizome. See page 42 of Nepal Pteridophytes 1 – free from the National Hebarium. It is the last species but one in the left column. Why haven’t you troubled to go there and get the book you need and consult there?
Also illustrated in Khullar’s book.
No need to keep asking identities for all these photos of very common and very well known species. Better to try learning in the usual way. It did not matched with any if the ferns in the literature and specimens available with me. polypodioides lachnopus Thank you …, Polypodioides lachnopus Wallich ex Hooker SK 2152 26 August 2019 : 7 posts by 2 authors. It seems to be like Nephrolepis on the basis of morphology, but in absence of reproductive structures it is quite impossible to identify it. These are poor quality photos of the very widespread and common species Polypodiodes (“Goniophlebium“) lachnopus, abundant throughout Nepal etc.
