. Central Himalaya to Indo-China: Andaman Is., Assam, Bangladesh, East Himalaya, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand as per POWO; . Medium-large trees, 25-30 m tall with white-pale grey, compressed or subtetragonus branchlets. Leaves simple, alternate, spiral; petioles ca. 0.8-2 cm long; lamina ca. 9-20 x 2.5-8 cm, broadly lanceolate-elliptic or oblanceolate, acute-attenuate at base, obtusely acuminate at apex, entire, coriaceous, glabrous, pale beneath, gland dots small; secondary nerves 8-14 pairs. Inflorescences branched or panicled cymes, 5-flowered; cymes solitary or fascicled in leaf or fallen leaf axills; Flowers ca. 1.5 cm across, white; pedicels ca. 1.2 cm long; calyx tube ca. 0.7-1 cm long, clavate-turbinate; lobes 4, rounded; petals 4, ca. 0.5-0.65 cm long, free. Berries ca. 1.3 cm in diam., globose, smooth. Seeds 1-2, crowned by spreading calyx lobes. .

Please identify this tree from Sikkim. Elevation – appx abobe 2800 asl. Typical fruit appears as Lecythidaceae member. I don’t know whether you already identified upto genus level. I can give you the idea about the genus only.
For me it’s a species of Syzygium/ Eugenia [Myrtaceae]. A Syzygium species? Careya ?? Thanks, …, for the genus id. I checked all the species of Eugenia with specimens, which may likely to occur in Sikkim as per BSI Flora of India, Checklist of Nepal and Google search:

Eugenia toddalioides Wight Eugenia kurzii Duthie I think closest I can reach is Eugenia kurzii Duthie as per POWO specimen and GBIF specimen. This is Syzygium kurzii, as per Ms Devolina Dey, a Syzygium student of NE India. .
