Pendulous epiphytes, to 30 cm long, stem woody, terete, green. Leaves 10-11, terete, linear, acute. Flowers orange-yellow, in 5-6 cm long, erect, dense axillary racemes; bracts 1.5 x 1.2 mm, ovate-lanceolate, acuminate; dorsal sepal oblong, acute, serrulate, 3-veined; lateral sepals falcately oblanceolate, 1-veined; petals orbicular or broadly elliptic-oblong, rounded, 3-veined; lip 7 x 1.5-4 mm, 3-lobed, lateral lobes rounded, orbicular; midlobe ovate, acute, papillate, deflexed; spur 5.5 x 1-2 mm, inflated, laterally compressed, rounded at base, thickened on backwall; column short and broad; foot 0; pollinia 2, entire.

Seidenfadeniella salimii J.Mathew, Hrideek, V.B.Sreek. & K.Madhus. !


This plant was recently (in 2016) described as a new species Seidenfadeniella salimii however later (2019) it was merged under Seidenfadeniella filiformis. Somehow I think they are distinct from each other. Spur of filiforme is a bit shorter. But then how different is really different.

Very nice finding.
