Anyone In or Near Dehradun? : 8 posts by 5 authors.
What a wonderful site, and so much gratitude to you all for making it such a valuable botanical resource!
I am from the UK and will be staying in Dehradun for two weeks in March 2016. I was wondering if there is anyone in this group who could help me out by showing me some of the flora while I am staying there? I will have a list of plants that I would like to find, mostly wild edible plants, so if anyone is interested in meeting up, please feel free to contact me. I would also be more than happy to reciprocate by paying any expenses incurred during our time together. E.G. Taxis, meals etc.
Thanking you in advance…
The best way is to contact Dr. Sunil Kumar Srivastava, Scientist – E & Head of Office, Botanical Survey of India, Northern Regional Centre, Dehra Dun as he is capable of providing the desired assistance.
His email id …
Thank you for your email, and for your advice. Greatly appreciated. I will do as you suggest.
It’s great to know about your interests. While in Dehradun you are most welcome to visit Wildlife Institute of India located on the outskirts of city towards south-west. Our campus is rich in floral diversity and we would be happy to take you on a nature walk around our campus and show you local flora.
Let me know when you are here in Doon.
Many thanks for your kind offer. I will contact you nearer the time to arrange a visit.
