Annuals. Culms 10-45 cm long, floating; nodes bearded. Leaves 2.5-7.5 x 0.6-2 cm, ovate-oblong or lanceolate, base cordate, apex acute or obtuse, glaucous beneath; sheaths to 6 cm long, expanded, spongy, forming floats. Panicles 3.5-6 cm long, lax; pedicels with a red band below the middle. Spikelets 6-8 mm long, lanceolate, 1-flowered. Glumes wanting. Lemma 6-8 x 1-3 mm, lanceolate, acuminate, chartaceous, awned; awns 0.7-1.2 cm long, scabrid. Palea 6-8 x 1-2 mm, elliptic-lanceolate, keels scabrid or ciliate. Stamens 6. Grain oblong.

Can anybody help me with the identification of floating hydrophyte having red stock in the picture.
The photo was taken in one of the lake in Raigad district.


It appears Hygroryza aristata, an aquatic grass.

Sending a wetland grass for ID, please help in finding the same.
This grass spreads(runs) over shallow water on ponds in particular. Now on flowering.
