71st Tree Appreciation Walk at Joseph Baptista Gardens, Dockyard Rd

We never thought in our wildest of dreams  that there is another Hanging Garden toughed away in the Dockyard area of Mazgaon called Joseph Baptista Garden, built too on water reservoir between 1880- 1884 in an area of 1.5 acres.

The well know Hanging Garden known as Pherozeshah Mehta Garden is built on Malabar Hills, overlooking the Queen’s Necklace, enjoying the cool breeze from the Marine Drive. The Joseph Baptist Garden is built on Bhandarwada Hills overlooking couple of churches, Agiary and Gamdevi Temple……..some very ancient Kailashpati, Jackfruits, Mango and other trees telling history of the place.

We were surprised to find very interesting tree known as Branching Palm Hyphaene dichotoma and they were fruiting which was a lifer for us.

We decided to conduct our 71^st Tree Appreciatiom Walk in this very elusive Hanging Garden on 10^th April at 7.30 am.

We invite you all to come for this garden which has some very ancient and unique trees…..

Our 71st Tree Appreciation  Walk on Sunday,10th April, 2016                 

Venue:  Joseph Baptista Gardens locally known as Mazagaon Gardens. Dockyard Road Station on Harbour Line.

Time:  7.30  a.m.

Duration of walk:  2 hours

Meeting Point: Main gate of the Garden

Direction :  Nearest Station Dockyard Station on VT Habour line. Get down at East and its just 7 mints walk behind the railway station.

Caution :

There is a little climb to reach the garden, not very steep but about 5 mints climb from the gate to the garden. 

We will be sending the list of the trees which we plan to show during our Walk,  in few days.
