Small herb with thorny leaf-margins and tubular purple flowers which are hairy on the outside.
Found at altitudes of 3000-4500 in East Sikkim Flowering in June ID help needed This species is Acanthocalyx nepalensis (D.Don) M.J.Conon.
Commonly found in alpine regions of Eastern Himalaya
Please help in the identification of attached species recorded from the Tawang area, Arunachal Pradesh (altitude around 4000 meter).

To me looks different from species available at efi site so far as per Carthamus
Also could not find a match at Carduoideae
Tricholepis amplexicaulis ?? I do not think matches with images at Tricholepis amplexicaulis C.B.Clarke

thank god. finally !!! i was going crazy with so many thorny hairs on leaves and even what looks like a withering bunch of flowers or developing fruit. did not match any of the morinas we had. l learned that i have to go beyond what we have. ONE NEW MORINA for our page … wonder what does the flower look like???
can we have a follow up, with flowers, next spring may be? …
