Hybrid xDigiplexis ‘Illumination Flame’  was developed by breeder Charles Valin with the Thompson & Morgan seed company dreamed of a cross between Digitalis purpurea, common foxglove, and Isoplexis canariensis, an orange-flowered foxglove family relative native to the Canary Islands in 2006. The plant received lot of recognition when introduced in US market in 2013. The intergeneric name xDigiplexis, however, could not sustain as DNA studies have established Isoplexis better placed under Digitalis only, hence accepted name Digitalis ‘Illumination Flame’
Photographed from Sunnyvale, California.
