Description:
Tuberous geophyte, 20-30 cm tall. Tuber globose, 1-2cm across. Leaves alternate, lamina elliptic-lanceolate, 5-10 × 1.5-3.5cm, margin entire. Flowers greenish, 1.5-2cm long, on 15-20 cm long terminal lax spike. Bracts ovate-lanceolate. Sepals 3, oblique, similar attached to the top of the ovary. Petals 6, greenish, entire, linear, lip spurred, 3 lobed, mid lobe narrow and longer than laterals. Pollinia enclosed in tubes. Ovary inferior, 3 lobed, oblong. Capsule curved and beaked; seeds many, dusty.
Habitat & location: Endemic to E.Ghats. Rare. Found in cool shady places near water falls in hill side forests. Photographed at Malleswaram kona.

Main characters of Habenaria lies in rostellum and stigma on the rostellum which are missing.
