Tree for ID :: Zurich, CH :: EU-ARKOCT20 : Attachments (8)
This tree was seen near Zurich, CH. Pics were taken in April 2016.
Is this also some Ulmus species?

Can’t help on this one. Trees are not my strong point 🙁 But next year 🙂

I suspect it is Carpinus betulus

Thank you … for providing the ID.

Carpinus betulus L. looks close.

Any chance for Salix?

See  your trimmed image below

show the remnants of last years seed

This was tricky as there was a lot going on in 1st pic.
It is Carpinus betulus…common name hornbeam.
The clue is in an old seed case left from last year…see above  where I have trimmed your 1st image.
It is being trained ..here we call it pleached… it is tied to canes to hold the shape and tripped to keep it thin.
