Small shrub up to 50 cm tall, whole plant covered with felt of very short branching hairs, with 3-6 cm long , deeply dissected pinnatisect leaves with each lobe distinctly obovate, Flowers deep blue in compact up to 8 cm long spike. Bract elliptic, apex acute, with five rather indistinct nerves, exceeding the calyx in length. Upper middle tooth of calyx broadly triangular in shape. Corolla blue mauve. Plant from Canary Islands and Madeira. Occasionally cultivated as an ornamental.
