Please identify this Ficus plant that grows in laterite Soils of Kannur District of Kerala… no fruits are visible… leaf margin is slightly spinous or serrate..


It is very difficult to identify this sterile material.


For me this is not Ficus sp., hard to find such crenulate hairy leaves with more than 10 pairs of veins.
Please check for a plant belong to same family (Moraceae), Antiaris toxicaria Lesch. whether saplings of this species resemble to this or not.


The images can be of Ficus callosa. Difficult to confirm identify at this young stages. Tell … to check the presence of exudate when leaf is detached.


There is exudate… which is white and the base of leaf lamina shows two dentate growths…
