Pennisetum polystachion (L.) Schult.  ??

No doubt it is Pennisetum genus. but species is doubtful

Looks more like an unusual variety of Napier grassPennisetum purpureum. The commonly grown varieties do not have such a hirsute leaf base.

In case of P.polystachyon, the rachis of the spike would be winged along its ribs. The inner bristles of the spikelets also would be hairy. Also, if you squeeze a spikelet from its bottom, the upper floret will jump out and fall off. You can try this trick to confirm. This feature of jumping floret is seen in P.polystachyon, P.pedicellatum and P.setosum and P.hordeoides.

Thank you …!! Nepali Name : नेपियर घाँस Nepiyar Ghaans
