Very common in A.P.
Thanks a lot, …
I think this is the same plant as Grewia carpinifolia in efi so far.
Perusing online resources, I feel our plants in India may correctly be Grewia rhamnifolia Heyne ex Roth as there is no such listing of Grewia carpinifolia in BSI Flora of India.
Catalogue of Life also gives its distribution as stated in BSI Flora of India, while regarding Grewia carpinifolia, it gives distribution as Sierra Leone, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo, Benin, Nigeria, Cameroon, W-D.R.Congo (Zaire), NW-Angola, Sao Tome, Yemen (W-Yemen, Aden Desert).
I am marking a copy to Sh. Nicolas Lagarrigue, Fench Botanist, Living and working at Pitchandikulam Forest Organisation, Auroville – Tamil Nadu, for necessary corrections in his wonderful website at http://www.pitchandikulam-herbarium.org/contents/nomenclature.php?id=74
Our floras give it Grewia rhamnifolia only; thank you Catalogue of life given it as accepted name; the plant is identified with BSI; it is very common here, I feel Grewia caprinifolia is incorrect for the Indian species.
Thanks, …, I agree with you.
12012013 BRS 437: Pl. find the attached file contain photo for identification. Looks like some species of Grewia. Supporting … Could this be Grewia flavescens? This appears close to images at Grewia carpinifolia Juss. You can compare with Grewia bracteata!
I think close to Grewia orientalis The pod is different, It is close to Grewia rhamnifolia which is abundant in the area. fruit pilose, yellow in Grewia orientalis; fruit softly pubescent/ velvety in G.rhamnifolia, it is also eaten by local tribes
Sorry. I want to say Grewia rhamnifolia only. Thank you …, sorry from you is never expected, you are more than many plant taxonomists Grewia carpinifolia in Pitchandikulam Forest virtual herbarium are of Grewia rhamnifolia : 3 posts by 2 authors.
I have written to them for correction as below:

The Grewia carpinifolia is enlisted in the Flora of British India- vol I by J. D. HOOKER, C.B..and ‘the plant list’ mentions Grewia rhamnifolia Roth is a synonym of Grewia carpinifolia Juss.
The Plant List record is based on WCSP, which is under review as per link- thus should not be taken seriously.
Images at Pitchandikulam Forest are of Grewia rhamnifolia (as Grewia carpinifolia is not found in India as per this link & as per BSI flora of India (keys at link) and Catalogue of life distribution)
Identification of Grewia sp. 2 : 1 post by 1 author. 5 images. Pl confirm whether the attached plants are also Grewia flavescens
