Euphrasia schlagintweitii Wettst., Monogr. Euphrasia 181 1896.;
Pakistani Kashmir (Deosai), Pakistan (Hazara), Jammu & Kashmir (Poonch,
Kashmir), N-India, Nepal as per Catalogue of Life; Another little flower for i.d…
Location Pangi valley
Altitude 3000 mts Habit herb Habitat wild Plant height 4 inches Some Euphrasia sp. Euphrasia officinalis, I hope yes, Euphrasia (Eyebright, German: Augetrost), The common name refers to the plant’s use in treating eye infection. I feel even the flowers are a treat to the eyes. E. officinalis is not an Indian species, and is not found in the Himalayas. The description and picture of Euphrasia himalayica seems to agree well with the plant found in the Valley of Flowers. Don’t know about E. platyphylla, so cannot comment. However, Euphrasia is a notoriously difficult genus.- in another thread https://groups.google.com/forum/?hl=en&fromgroups#!topic/indiantreepix/Ehmu7DeGfvo I also hope Euphrasia officinalis It does not match with the existing species in efi so far.
Other species which may be available in Himachal as per details at Euphrasia are
Euphrasia jaeschkei Wettst. (Afghanistan (Kunar / Nuristan, Laghman, Parwan), Jammu & Kashmir (Kashmir), Tibet, India, Nepal)
Euphrasia schlagintweitii Wettst. (Pakistani Kashmir (Deosai), Pakistan (Hazara), Jammu & Kashmir (Poonch, Kashmir), N-India, Nepal)
It does not match with FOC illustration of Euphrasia jaeschkei Wettst.
To me it appears close to specimen of Euphrasia schlagintweitii Wettst. at (could not find any image or better resolution specimen):

Date/Time: 29-09-2010 / 11:50AM Location: On the way from “Shea Goru to Chatadu”. (Approx. altitude: 11500 to 12000ft). Habitat: Wild Plant Habit; Herb Euphrasia himalayica, but need to see leaves to be sure. Yes in this apomictic genus the species are separated by very minor characters, and close up of leaves and other parts is necessary for species identification. I also think this is Euphrasia himalaica I think more closer to images at Euphrasia schlagintweitii rather than those at Euphrasia himalayica
