Dear members,
Here I would like to recall what Rawat ji said three years back:
“It was a great futuristic vision of Dinesh ji who created the efloraofindia site which became operative 5 years back on 2nd November 2010, where all the posted messages and images by members of efloraofindia google e-group are being compiled and managed. It has really been a marathon effort of compiling all the posts in eFI site. Since then this site has seen many changes for presenting information in a user friendly manner with greater accuracy while also maintaining all the posts in the database. It could be possible only due to Google group called “Indiantreepixs” (created on 18th June 2007), which was later renamed as efloraofindia. The group discusses plants, fungi, ferns etc. and has a following of a large number of members and has accumulated a huge wealth of information on Indian plants.
Today, eFI is the largest systematically arranged collection of images of plants of India. More than 2,00,000 images of more than 11,000 species uploaded by 2,500+ members from all parts of India makes it the largest collection from India available on net. Soon all the species’ pages will be having images for easy identification. And this treasure is ‘freely available to all’ without any advertisements, which is the best part of eFI.
It is the time to feel proud for this great endeavour. It is also the time to salute the selfless contributions of The Pillars, Subject Experts, Moderators, Major contributors and other members of efloraofindia google e-group. And it is also the time to strengthen our determination to showcase all the plant species of India on the canvas of eFI.
Dr D.S.Rawat”
Lot has changed in past three years with large scale display of images. Now we have more than 3,00,000 images of more than 12,000 species uploaded by 3,000+ members. We have added more than 1,00,000 images to our site though a similar number of images are still to be added in coming months. We have also created comparative images at species, genera & family pages for 170 families (A to O upto Opiliaceae) for easy identification along with many other things.

both of you have done heroic efforts putting time intellectual energy into making the webste unique and where it is now.
i marvel every time i visit. which is daily, once twice many times a day. i thank you and applaud both of you and Dinesh and Satish Phadke for initially thinking of it, suggesting etc if i recall correctly and others who i am blanking right now.

thanks to Gargji and the original band of seven? and their vision. i heard it somewhere in recent time. Hum chalte gaye aur log judte gaye. nice journey

I think original verse is like:

Main ekala hi chala tha aur karavan Banta Gaya.

jab huā irfāñ to ġham ārām-e-jāñ bantā gayā
soz-e-jānāñ dil meñ soz-e-dīgarāñ bantā gayā
rafta rafta munqalib hotī ga.ī rasm-e-chaman
dhīre dhīre naġhma-e-dil bhī fuġhāñ bantā gayā
maiñ akelā hī chalā thā jānib-e-manzil magar
log saath aate ga.e aur kārvāñ bantā gayā
maiñ to jab jānūñ ki bhar de sāġhar-e-har-ḳhās-o-ām
yuuñ to jo aayā vahī pīr-e-muġhāñ bantā gayā
jis taraf bhī chal paḌe ham ābla-pāyān-e-shauq
ḳhaar se gul aur gul se gulsitāñ bantā gayā
sharh-e-ġham to muḳhtasar hotī ga.ī us ke huzūr
lafz jo muñh se na niklā dāstāñ bantā gayā
dahr meñ ‘majrūh’ koī jāvedāñ mazmūñ kahāñ
maiñ jise chhūtā gayā vo jāvedāñ bantā gayā

Thanks, Pankaj ji, for the complete poem.

Mam the shayari is not mine but I knew the original so copied from a website. I like Gazals a lot by the way and of course sad but inspiring songs.

yea, … i meant do you remember by heart, recite them etc. i looked it up with the correct lyrics you gave.

it was Majrooh Sultanpuri sahab who wrote it

Thanks, Pankaj ji,

I also have similar taste.

well, then. next time pankaj comes thru here we should arrange for a mushayara in his honor and a grand adda party kolkata style. should we?

There is no words for apprecation for creating this web and contineous enhancement which is really a marathon task. I believe this would grow more in future to become a biggest site in the world. Kudos to all of you.

Thanks, Saroj ji, for your nice words. Hope these come true.

Great job, Thanks to Dinesh ji and Garg ji.

Thanks to the whole team. It is a great team work and nothing else.

Thanks Garg ji, Rawat ji.
All credits go to you at the fountainhead, the top contributors and the members for keeping and building the momentum of eFI.
eFI has come a far way, and infinitely much more to go.

Salute to this Great work and constant selfless efforts. Not only it helps students but it helps save the plant species which is most
important from perspective of human beings survival. Just a simple example, if we can identify plant, then only we can inform people about it.
If people know the plant and it’s importance it is saved. This is great service to nature and mankind!
