Tree Logger : Android app to locate trees, and use it to educate layman about trees : 5 posts by 5 authors.
I didn’t post much in this group for sometime, as I was busy with my work.

I wanted to spread awareness about so many trees being cut.
I looked around 25 parks near my residence (Bangalore being a Garden City its easier to locate them easily).
I chose very small corner parks to medium size parks, and included my favorite one Lalbagh.
I went and marked each and every tree in each one of the parks.
Most of them are comepletely covered, and I tried to cover Lalbagh extensively.
Lalbagh will take a couple of weeks more.
I have marked around 5600+ trees.
It takes me around 3/4 hours to mark all trees in a medium size park.
But I thought instead of waiting for few more months I will get some expert opinions from people in this group, who helped me to identify many trees in Lalbagh for me.
Walking around the park, with the App will give information about the Tree you are near based on GPS coordinates.
I tried walking around Lalbagh, and it works to my satisfaction. But need to see if it helps a larger audience
Released it in the Play Store today, its still not searchable, may take a day or two I suppose.
Its a slower App, based on interest, I can build better crowd sourced complex system to locate trees over many cities.
Please feel free to give your suggestions to improve the app and how useful it can be.

Raman Ji

That’s really commendable.
Hearty congratulations!
Must try it out although I’m not very good at these Apps.

Highly commendable work. Great !  I shall try the app when I visit Bangalore.
