Kokan, Tree fern for ID :: ARK2019-39 : 5 posts by 3 authors. Attachments (4)

Requesting to please ID this tree fern. This was growing on most of the mango trees.
These were very noticeable in June 2019 after the first rains.
The pics were captured near Devgad, coastal Kokan, MH in June 2019.
Requested to please provide ID.

It is not a tree fern! Tree-fern means the big ferns with their own trunk and a crown of huge, radiating bipinnate to tripinnate fronds at the top.
I’m not sure I see any ferns here, as the photos are too far away and show no details – for ferns we need to see the fertile parts and the scales on the rhizome etc.  Please provide proper close-up photos showing sori.

Seems to Pyrrosia sp.
Could be P. lanceolata, Polypodiaceae.
