Erect tufted rhizomatous perennials, 50-100 cm tall; rhizome short, creeping; stem triquetrous, smooth. Leaves scattered all along the stem, linear, 9 mm wide, margins scabrid, gradually narrowed to an acute tip; sheaths narrow, 7-12 cm long, triquetrous, not winged, mouth brown, puberulous; contraligule reddish, ciliate, 1-2 mm long, obtuse. Inflorescence of 1 terminal and 2-5 lateral panicles; peduncles shortly exerted from the sheaths; primary bracts leaf-like, exceeding the inflorescence, secondary ones smaller, setaceous. Spikelets unisexual, brown; male spikelets peduncled, oblong, 3.5 mm long; female spikelets ovoid, 4-4.5 mm, male part represented by a single glume; glumes 3-4, ovate-acute, 4 mm long, 1-nerved. Stamens 3, anthers 1.5 mm long. Style short; stigmas 3. Nut globose, oblate, depressed apex, 2.2-2.5 x 2.5-3 mm, glabrous, smooth, shining white, shorter than the subtending glume; disk 3-lobed, lobes ovate, obtuse.

Scleria spp. probably Scleria laevis of Cyperaceae family. Not a grass.

Can be Scleria terrestris (L.) Fassett or Scleria levis Retz. Need to check the specimen.
