¿ Cissus elongata ? : (mixed thread): last set of 5 images is correct. …………………….

Yesterday, I chanced upon C. elongata once again (a photo attached) at Ghodbunder side of Sanjay Gandhi National Park … but this one has its leaflets’ shape different and nearly matches the illustration at eFlora (of China) …
http://www.efloras.org/object_page.aspx?object_id=93827&flora_id=2
For more views: http://www.flickr.com/search/Cissus+elongata&m=text

If their is auricle at the base of petiole then it is Cyphostemma auriculata-Vitaceae Pls. check

I am attaching cropped photos … please let me know if auricles that you mentioned are found here.

Ya it is Cyphostemma auriculata only

I could not find much about this species on internet (and I have limited reference books).

I wish to know following:
… synonyms: Vitis auriculataCissus auriculata ? Cayratia auriculata ?
… any common name(s): ?
… regions native to, OR distribution: ?
… any good reference (URL or some book): ?
and any point which differentiates it from C. elongata.
… there is one Google Book reference Prodromus Floræ Peninsulæ Indiæ Orientalis which discusses both these species (Cyphostemma auriculata and Cissus elongata ) and they seem very close.

Cyphostemma auriculatum
Syn. Cissus auriculata and Vitis auriculata
Local Name –Jangali Kajorni, Kali vel
It is from my own Book i.e. ” Flora of Baramati” which I have recently published.

🙂 Thank you very much, …
Please let me know if I got names correctly: जंगली काजोर्णी, काळी वेल

Location – Mumbai
Duration – September, 2011
Liana, spreading across the area – on the trees and trailing on the grounds as well

No, actually most of the plants were in non-flowering stage when i visited the area.

It seems Vitis auriculata Wall. May be you can get flowering in between March to June. Commonly called Kali Vel.
Leaves 5 foliate and extensive climber as I see in your posted picture, even stipules also seems large so my opinion is it may be Vitis auriculata.

A plant belonging to the family Vitaceae.
Concluding species from these pictures are difficult and not advisable.
Try get pictures of flowers (inflorescence) and fruits including details.
May be you can have a look at … pictures which are closer to this one @ http://www.flickr.com/dinesh_valke/photostream/
Let us wait to here from as well after few days.

..i will try to get pictures of the inflorescence.
The flowering season is supposed to be from June to October, however could not see any inflorescence (when visited in September). Will try and visit the area once more.

Yes, I agree with …. Cyphostemma auriculatum (Roxb.) P.Singh & B.V.Shetty . The specific epithet is based on ear shaped stipules that can be seen clearly.

Hope my id is correct. Validate pls

Yes indeed its Cayratia auriculata

Do not see the large ear-shaped stipule which is seen in this species.
In it’s absence please consider Cissus sp. as leaves are digitate / palmate and not pedate.

I think it is Cayratia auriculata.
The stipule can be seen in bottom R. of first picture and in top left of 4th picture

Really an ‘auriculate’ plant as seen in the first picture.

Me too liked the first picture.

Yes … Nice pictures supporting the species name.

Excellent example of a Cayratia sp. without pedate leaf.
Cayratia sp. very often have pedate leaves and hence this comment.
MR Almeida’s Fl. MH mentions that this species is allied to Vitis elongata (now Cissus elongata) and V. lanceolarium.
