Which Begonia is this ?
popular houseplant
angel wing begonia, one of many variants and cultivars.
it seems fruits are perhaps developing already in the first picture?
Thank you … Any specific ID ?
well. i don’t honestly know what to call them. not an expert. most nurseries label them as coccinea but we know thats not correct.
coccinea was one of the parents. and since original hybrids were produced, many many variants are in market.
Looks different from images on Google search on angel wing begonia
Hybrid of Begonia bowerae well thanks … i am confused. hybridization partner would be???? that changes the roundish peltate leaves of Begonia bowerae
to marginal in a somewhat triangular ie wing like leaf in the case in point ? begonias hybrids are difficult at best. thanks for your patience. please tell me more Begonia bowerae ‘Nigra Magra’ ??
Begonia bowerae is characterized by leaf-margins fringed with hairs, which gives it the name Eyelash begonia. Even in the closeup of leaves in your images, that character is missing. So, I doubt if it is really a cultivar/ hybrid of Begonia bowerae. Even if it is, it is not at all representative of this species. Possibly a cultivar of B. mazae? Appears close to Begonia mazae f. nigricans as per
