Habit : Cultivated Plant habit (image) would be helpful for identification. For this particular sp. I do not have the habitat image ! Found stuck on a flower pot. all pictures appear enlarged. what is the real size of the flowers? is pic 5 closer to reality? I think this is called Baby’s breath in cut flower industry and bridal bouquet makers. flower size is usually about 4 to 6 mm or thereabouts
Gypsophila sp, could be g. elegans popularly grown.
second used to be g. paniculata dont see these much in india.
of course like any successful garden plant, there are many hybrids all over the worlds’ nurseries.
need habit, habitat, and real size of the flowers and if possible the entire flowering spike from the plant, at least i do. Plant habit (image) would be helpful for identification. It was about 1 cm ! g paniculata flowers are 1 to 3mm. note mm wide. is perennial and becomes weedy vs g. elegans is an annual, about 10 to 15 mm (my guess from the bw drawing in this) and much loved flower to grow. since we dont have any information about the plant at all. you said it was in someone’s cut flower vase. we can only go as far as saying this is possibly, note possibly, gypsophila elegans. that’s an educated guess, only.
safer diagnosis in such iffy situation is to stay colloquial. and call it baby’s breath, Gyposphila sp. and leave it at that.
unless you find a lab that will do genetic analysis of the flowers you have and compare to known gypsophila species ???
since someone had it to cut and put it in their flower vase, if you keep searching you will definitely run into the plant for a final botanical diagnosis. Thanks, …, for the id.

So we should take both the following as Gypsophila paniculata: I repeat my two earlier replies:
Gypsophila paniculata white double flowered cultivar from Jammu, in a cutflower bouquet. The species is often confused with G. elegans but to my knowledge petals of G. elegans are much longer, often reaching 15 mm and flowers never double.
