SK656 18 JUL-2017:ID : Pl. Check comparative images at efi site. Pl. check with comparative images at Astragalus I think close to images at Astragalus rhizanthus Benth. May be some other species as per keys at Flora of China Astragalus rhizanthus subsp. candolleanus (Benth.) Podlech ?? as in earlier post SK657 19 JUL-2017:ID ?? This is Caragana, but I am not sure of the species. I tried all species listed in Checklist of Nepal, as per Closest I could go is Caragana sukiensis C.K.Schneid. as per specimen, but I am not satisfied.
Flora of Bhutan gives the following keys:
1. Wing petals with a linear appendage at base almost as long as the claw Species 1 (C. jubata (Pallas) Poiret; C. chambica Prain) & 2 (C. sukiensis Schneider; C. nepalensis Kitamura)
+ Wing petals with rounded auricles at base ………………. .. 3. C. spinifera. Did not find listing/ distribution in Nepal Caragana gerardiana Benth. ?? Yes, appears close as per GBIF– Specimen.
Is it the only species mentioned in the book on Flora of Mustang? Thank you … I have sent the excerpts from the book in other mail.
Hope both are correct! SK657 19 JUL-2017:ID : 5 posts by 2 authors. Attachments (10)

Seems like Caragana sukiensis Both ? I also think Astragalus or similar genera. Pl. Check comparative images in efi site.
Pl. check comparative images at Astragalus
I find it closer to images at Astragalus rhizanthus subsp. candolleanus (Benth.) Podlech as per comparative images at Astragalus May be some other species as per keys at Flora of China. Caragana gerardiana Benth. ?? Yes, appears close as per GBIF– Specimen.
Is it the only species mentioned in the book on Flora of Mustang? Attachments (4)- 3 book pages. . Can this be Caragana brevispina Benth. ?? as uploaded by …, a few days back.. I think it looks different from the images at Caragana brevispina Benth. The other two species known from Western Himalaya with such long spines and solitary stalkless flower is Caragana gerardiana and Caragana sukiensis and both of them looks quite similar except for latter having ear like extension to the wing petal and papery free stipules which falls soon. Also C. sukiensis is known to occurs as low as 2400 m elevation.
I am attaching list of all Caragana species known from Indian Himalayan Region and a picture from Flowers of Himlaya book differentiating between the two, hoping this may help to confirm.
… may be know the approx. elevation?
2 attachments Thank you very much … for detailed analysis of the post… On checking species listed in Himachal Pradesh as given by …, I find it close to images/ specimens of Caragana gerrardiana as per POWO specimen and GBIF specimen- one . References: |
