Medium sized trees; branches angled to subterete, glabrous to glabrescent. Leaves simple, opposite decussate; stipules elliptic-oblong to ovate, 13-50 × 5-30 mm, pilosulous, keeled, obtuse to rounded at apex; petiole ca. 1.5-6 cm, glabrous to densely pilosulous; lamina ca. 7-20 x 4-15 cm, orbicular, obovate-elliptic, rounded or subcordate at base, obtusely acuminate at apex, entire, slightly hairy beneath; secondary nerves 5-7 pairs.  Inflorescences densely puberulent to pilosulous; peduncles ca. 0.1-0.3 cm; flowering heads 1-5, ca. 0.7-1 cm in diam. across calyces, ca. 1.5-2 cm in diam. across corollas; bracteoles linear-spatulate, ca. 0.1-0.15 cm, glabrous or sparsely pubescent; calyx glabrous; ovary portion 0.15-0.3 cm; limb ca. 0.5 mm, subtruncate to lobed for ca. 1/2; lobes triangular, obtuse; corolla yellowish white, outside glabrous, densely hairy inside; tube ca. 0.2-0.3 cm; lobes narrowly oblanceolate, ca. 0.4-0.5 cm, acute; Fruiting heads ca. 1-1.6 cm in diam. Capsules ca. 0.3-0.5 cm, weakly ridged, with persistent calyx thickened; seeds ca. 0.1 cm.
