Trees, up to 15 m tall, evergreen. Leaves simple, opposite, decussate; petiole ca. 1-1.5 cm long; lamina ca. 6-19 x 2.5-8 cm, elliptic-obovate or elliptic-oblong, attenuate at base, acuminate at apex, entire, membranous, glabrous; secondary nerves 5-8 pairs, prominent on both surfaces. Inflorescences in axillary or supra-axillary, corymbose or umbellate cymes, ca. 1-1.5 cm long; peduncles ca. 0.3-0.6 cm long; pedicels very short; Flowers ca. 0.3-0.5 cm across, greenish-white or purplish-green; sepals ca. 0.15 x 0.1 cm suborbicular; petals ca. 0.2 cm long, elliptic or oblong, concave, imbricate; filaments ca. 0.1 cm long, subulate; anthers oblong; ovary longer than stamens, 2-loculed; style very short. Capsules ca. 1.2-1.5 x 0.5-1 cm, ellipsoid-oblong, smooth, 2-valved, 1-celled. Seeds solitary, ca. 1-1.2 x 0.7-0.8 cm, ellipsoid, stipitate, scarlet red.
In subtropical forests, 800-1200 m.

It looks like a scandent shrub. My first impression is leaning towards Celastraceae —> Reissantia.


I guess you are right, … !
Only one sp. has got distribution in Nepal. Reissantia arborea (Roxb.) H.Hara


Nepali Names : चिलबिले Chilabile/ Firke फिर्के/  गिनेरी Gineree
