Annual herbs, ca. 15-25 cm long, loosely tufted, creeping below culms, occasionally rooting and branching from lower nodes. Leaf sheaths smooth, glabrous, slightly inflated; ligule ca. 0.2-0.5 cm; lamina ca. 8-20 x 0.3-0.5 cm, linear, light green, soft, surface closely ribbed above, smooth beneath, scaberulous. Flowers in slender panicles, ca. 2.7 cm, pale grey-green; spickelets elliptic or oblong ca. 0.2-0.3 cm; glumes membranous, smooth, keels ciliate-hispid, lateral veins hispid on lower part, margins connate at base, apices obtuse; lemma equaling or slightly longer than glumes, margins connate below middle, apex obtuse; awn included within spikelet or exserted up to 1.2 mm, straight; anthers ca. 0.5-0.8 mm, orange-yellow.
In open places along roads, nalahas, swampy places; 1800-2500 m.
