Perennial herbs. Leaves 15-17 x 6-8 cm, elliptic, acuminate, glabrous above, hispid below; nerves 5-8 pairs. Racemes 10-20 cm long, arising from the base of the stem, ascending or trailing, puberulus. Flowers alternate, yellow; bracts linear; tepals 3, yellow, 6 x 4 mm, ovate, free, spreading, hairy on outside; stamens 15, biseriate; filaments connate at base; anthers linear, yellow; ovary hairy; ovules numerous. Capsule 6 x 0.5 cm, 4-valved, purple; seeds many, yellowish-brown.
