Black fruit Myrcinaceae ? : 7 posts by 4 authors. Attachments (6)
Location Rajnagar Kumarghat Unakoti district Tripura
Please identify Please see for Alangium sp. Likely to be Alangium platanifolium
Thank you very much
There are two varieties
Alangium platanifolium var. macrophyllum
Alangium platanifolium var. trilobum
Alangium platanifolium is not found in India as per details at Alangium and as per Flora of China.
I think entry in FOI may not be correct.
I think, it seems close as per images at Alangium chinense
Although trees are commonly cultivated, the plant at FOI (photographed by me) does agree well with Alangium chinense, particularly the reddish leaf-stalks and the relative size of petals and stamens. The entry has now been corrected. Fwd: ALANGIUM CHINENSE : 1 post by 1 author. Attachments (1)

This image is sent to me from a friend, I could not, please help in the identification, it is a small tree, leaves simple, alternate, cordate, apex acute, margin entire, petiole as long as leaf blade, leaf looks like that of Thespecia, but nerves are slightly impressed. This plant is from the hills of Andhra-Orissa borders
The flower looks like Alangium, so a guess would be Alangium chinense (Lour.) Harms SYMBIOSIS : 1316 : 2 posts by 2 authors. Attachments (1)
