Yes sir, We have it in Kalatope too during the months of July-August.. Yes sir you are absolutely right 🙂 There is another species Satyrium nepalense var. ciliatum. It is found in Mussorie and Chakrata but very rare. It has very short spur and flowers are more whitish.

This terrestrial orchid is very common in Chakrata, Uttrakhand and was shot during our recent visit to the place.. was also recorded from Gori valley area also.. the shared pics are from Chakrata only.. Wonderful shots of a most common orchid there Yes stunning Satyrium nepalense. Another brother of this, Satyrium cilliatum is a bit rare but found in western Himalaya if you all can try. Habit: Terrestrial herb
Habitat: Montane forest amidst grass.
Sighting: Kuduremukha and Mullaianagiri, Chikmagalur, Karnataka, about 1500 msl and 1800 msl respectively.
Date:03-10-2014, 1-09-2015, 8-09-2015 and 15-09-2015 terrestrial orchids is the reason trekkers must look where they put their foot down, lest they trample and kill these in infancy. beautiful pictures

I found this orchid first at about 2200m and then saw dozens of them farther up till about 2700m. On my last walk to Triund on 9th July it was Habeneria intermedius and on this one yesterday it was the pink orchid. Is it Satyrium nepalense? Please advise.

OK this is interesting. I would say this is Satyrium nepalense. Keep guessing how!!
Interesting, one of the few orchids I have photographed in flowering, from Chakrata and Chikmagalur.
If you notice, there are two spurs coming out of the bud. So it has to be only one genus from Western Himalaya and that is Satyrium and nepalense because the spur is too long.
