If the rhizome is ivory colored and with camphor smell and lower side of leaf is densely pubescent there is a chance of C. aromatica. Yes….I remember. The lower surface was densely pubescent. It can be see in the first image on zooming in. Further I am given to understand that C. aromatica flowers during spring and C.pseudomontana flowers during rainy season. Considering the flowering season I strongly feel that the images are that of C. aromatica. Though I did not check it up personally the local villagers say that the rhizomes are strongly scented and are used for culinary purposes.

I am looking to ID another plant. Found it on the slopes of Sahyadris in the monsoons (August). Curcuma sp. Where is the correct locality? It seems to be Curcuma aromatica? Need the rhizome nature and colour. This is on the hilly slopes near Suryamal in Maharashtra. It was far so I could get a closer shot. Let me see, I may have some other photos too. They were only growing on almost vertical slopes. I had a higher resolution photo and I have cropped closer to the flower. There does seem to be some yellow in it. It could be wild turmeric, but not sure. KAS week::(Curcuma aromatica-03/10/2012-NJ):
