Dracaena marginata hort. ;
. is this potted plant in a private society garden at Pune
? Dracaena marginata
Kindly validate yes this is Dracaena marginata tricolor Ornamental for id – 300912 ANB-0006 – Mumbai: I’d love to know the name of this ornamental, it is around 5 feet tall. The arrangement of the leaves is quite splendid, I wonder if there is a term used to describe this kind of leaf arrangement. The stem is slim and slender. I didn’t see any flowers. Dracena marginata ‘Bicolor’. your question was about the leaf crown I take it and its arrangement of the leaves? you wanted to know the terms describing it? Found some plants today in the same Euphorbia’s garden which I could not id……I have posted those picture on eflora to id and which I could ID from my book Tropical Garden Plants, I have attached with this mail.

Palm tree for ID. Photographed at Darjeeling (Apr 09) I think Dracaena sp., not a palm. Dracaena – some species in eFIoraofindia (with details/ keys from regional floras/ FRLHT/ FOI/ efloras/ books etc., where ever available) I think this is Dracaena marginata This plant was seen in a cultivated garden in January 2015.
Requested to please ID, looks to be a Dracaena. Check once with D.mariginata …, yes when older, it branches like crazy Paramount

Place : Hooghly, WB Probably some species of Agave .. So, it is a member of Amaryllidaceae… Thank you … for the suggestion. But my reference book only features the ornamental Agave americana.
Let me see what internet says…. 🙂 Agave is not Amaryllidaceae, as far as I know!! :(…Agave is rather Agave genus is from subfamily Aavoideae from family: asparagaceae…http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agavoideae
I personally would prefer to think that the pictures you have here are rather some form of Yucca that grows tall and skinny, I am just surprised that its top has not branched… do not know exact variety though… My first thought was that it was some unusual bamboo, but may be not… I would rather settle for a yucca and go from there… The owner of this “private” garden seems fond of tall skinny trunked plants… did you get to photograph what else this unique garden harbored? Yes, …, i noticed this discrepancy relating to the family ID of the Agave yesterday night after sending my reply to … According to “Plant Groups”, the book i consult, placed Agave under Amaryllidaceae (page no.791, Plant Groups by H. Mukherji), but then i understand that this book is outdated…. 🙂
I noticed the wiki link, you send me, last night. Oh! yes, …, there is also Travellers’s tree in his garden 🙂 I think this is a Dracaena, a very common plant in the gardens. Close to Dracaena marginata. A quick search in the net tells me that this is close to Dracaena marginata…. thank you thank you thank you for the ID help… will search more sometimes later. Sir, I agree with … id suggestion – Dracaena marginata, we have it in our database, and it looks similar to GBIF – https://www.gbif.org/species/5304439 I agree with you as per images at Dracaena marginata hort. .
