Scientific name: Cyperus rotundus
Common name: sedge
Family: Cyperaceae Looks more like Cyperus iria, but not very sure. Thank you Sir for all your appreciation. I get very confused with grasses and sedges. Hence this week wil be really an eye opener for me. I checked C. iria on the net. Seems to be different. Hope someone can confirm this Kindly tell the size of the plant. The inflorescence looks like Cyperus rotundus, but if it is a giant sedge, it could be some other species. … the plants are less than a feet tall. Its the other similar looking inflorescence I was doubtful about

Identification, please. Need id of this Cyperaceae member
From Agra, U.P
Height is about 1mtr.
Isn’t it the common one, Cyperus rotundus ? Thanks, …, for the id.
To me also appears close as per images at Cyperus rotundus
…, I think height should not be a factor in identification in Cyperaceae …in close to 10 species of Cyperus, I find a extreme variation in height, totally regulated by water availability…for example C. rptundus can be six inches to four feet. In other genera, variation is probably not that extreme. Submission for validation : 5 posts by 2 authors. Attachments (1) – 3 mb.
