I was familiar with Artabotrys hexapetalus in my school days. We knew it as KANTHALI CHAMPA (MADAN MAST). A few days back I collected a mature larva of Tailed Jay butterfly from this plant along with a twig. In due course of time pupa was formed. When the pupa was 11 days old a beautiful butterfly was released. I was witness to this wonderful journey. Attaching a collage of this journey. Artabotrys hexapetalus (L.f.) Bhandari Also check with images at Artabotrys zeylanicus
I believe it to be A. hexapetalus. Let me know if I am mistaking on some aspect.
Fruit image looked to better match with Artabotrys zeylanica though I did not explore further.
Thanks .. You could be thinking correctly. Will try to check the possibility.
