sharing the image of an unknown wild flower….
shot near Kolakham-Lava in the Neora Valley NP of the Eastern Himalayas.
Time: December 2010.
Camera: Kodak z980
Height: 5500 feet approx.

I have searched the net once again and my conclusion (conclusion of a novice) is –
1) It is a member of Gesneriaceae family
2) sepal and petal colour suggest a Aeschynanthus sp., might be A. lanceolatus (http://www.infojardin) or some hybrid (http://www.zoonar.html) or another similar looking – http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/47110/#b
3) leaf margin and texture suggest might be a Besleria sp., …. don’t know if there is any Besleria without decussate leaves. This link might be of some use- http://jerojetw.blogspot.html

Looks like some var./subsp. of Colquhounia coccinea

Yes, … seems to be correct.

Colquhounia in eFI:

Regarding the Colquhounia coccinea images posted on eFI, I think only Saroj’s post from Nepal is Colquhounia coccinea. All other images from West Himalaya belong to Colquhounia vestita. The reason is as follows:
Firstly, Colquhounia coccinea is found from Nepal eastwards. It is not found in West Himalaya, whereas Colquhounia vestita is found throughout the Himalayas (according to POWO).
Secondly, the stem, branches and leaf undersides in Colquhounia vestita are white-woolly, whereas they are not in Colquhounia coccinea (see the key at FOC). This feature is quite visible in the images on eFI.

The confusion probably arose from Polunin & Stainton which mentions only Colquhounia coccinea and describes the distribution ranging from Uttarakhand, and says the leaf undersides are white woolly. Mostly likely they erroneously clubbed the two species into one.

Any further opinion on ?

After going through details, I agree with you.
