Branched erect annual herb reaching up to 45 cm in height; leaves alternate, petiole alomost as long as blade; lower oblanceolate, with few irregular teeth upwards; upper 3-parted with segments again parted into linear lobes; flowers yellow, 7-12 mm across; sepals hairy outside; petals obovate; achenes usually 4-7, 5-6 mm long, trongly compressed, with long tubercles, beak straight or slightly curved.

Ranunculaceae Week- Ranunculus arvensis from Morni Hills, Haryana:
This is Ranunculus arvensis Linn., Sp. Pl. 555. An annual medium-sized pale green herb, lower leaves long-stalked, spahtulate, upper ones short-stalked, 2-3-lobed. Achenes covered with hooked spines.

This is a winter season herb, though I could not record it from anywhere else than a single locality of Morni Hills in Haryana, Ranunculus arvensis…

Very specific achenes with hooked spines on margin. Never seen in Uttarakhand, though known to occur here. Nice upload.

I found these growing among the wheat crops at about 1900m. The size of the flowers, leaves and the claw-like pods point to R. arvensis. Please advise.
