Please, is this a tree? Did you take photos of the entire plant? The leaves? Leaf arrangement along branch? Sorry for too many questions. you know i am going to ask for more information. what you remember and possibly more pictures. this is impossible to id as is presented Melastoma sanguineum Sims ?? I think looks different from images at Melastoma sanguineum Clappertonia ficifolia (Willd.) Decne. : Malvaceae
