Request Id for this plant. These varieties are currently in bloom
everywhere & the tall spikes look stately & quite spectacular. Pic taken in Lalbagh -12-07-09. Somebody had posted this earlier too. I thing it is Agave filifera.

It can very well be other bromeliad, or may even be something else. I simply don’t have any idea.
After my summer vacation ends I will check for flowers
