This tree was seen on the banks of the river Rhine near Zurich, Switzerland.
Requested to please provide ID.

This is a Sorbus species, possibly subgenus Aria (check to see if the leaves are white-hairy underneath).  This genus has many recognised micro species.

Viburnum lantana L.

Google tells me Sorbus aria has alternate leaves while Viburnum lantana has opposite leaves. This plant seems to have opposite leaves, so Viburnum lantana seems to be more appropriate.
