Date: Some time in 2004. Its likely to be Capparis grandis. Capparis tree for identification 310512MK01: This tree is common in the Sathyamangalam RF at the altitude of c.1000m.
The leaves are of 10 x8cm and flower 5cm across. I observed the heights of this species ranging from 3 – 7 m high.

Local name: Thotti maram (தொட்டி மரம்) May be Capparis grandis. I also think this could be C. grandis. March and april flowering and now its fruiting is there in and around Anaikatti forest as well as in NBNP garden.

Bark thick, dark brown vertically ploughed. White fragnent flowers… as shown. Seeds round pulpy, initially green, turning pinkish when ripe and finally brown.
