Capparis tree for identification 310512MK01:

This tree is common in the Sathyamangalam RF at the altitude of c.1000m.

The leaves are of 10 x8cm and flower 5cm across. I observed the heights of this species ranging from 3 – 7 m high.

Please help me to identify this Capparis sp.

Local name: Thotti maram (தொட்டி மரம்)

May be Capparis grandis.

I also think this could be C. grandis. March and april flowering and now its fruiting is there in and around Anaikatti forest as well as in NBNP garden.

So, do you by any chance have a follow up of the fruits as they are developing?

Location Coimbatore city.

Please ID…Tree with dropping branches.

Bark thick, dark brown vertically ploughed. White fragnent flowers… as shown. Seeds round pulpy, initially green, turning pinkish when ripe and finally brown.
No milky sap.

Capparis grandis ?

fairly big tree, larger than most ziziphus Maur. Could not locate any thorns in the tree. It is a single tree of its kind….out here, I think. All flowers are pure white.

Capparis grandis is a strong possibility from me too.
