Gastrochilus distichus (Lindl.) O.Ktz. (Orchidaceae) is a temperate epiphytic orchid in the Himalaya. Here it is shot at Munsyari area (2200m asl) in Kumaon.
The leafy stems are wiry, small (less than 10cm), clustered together, bearing thicker brown spotted leaves in two rows on either side. Flowers are small, yellowish and brown spotted, originating in small two flowered leaf opposed raceme.
This species is rarely spotted in Uttarakhand.

Great shots and best narration.

Thank you all for liking these pics.

Orchids are becoming rarer indicating loss of suitable habitats. In such case, seeing an orchid in its natural habitat, flourishing well, is an exhilarating experience.
