Another Avicenia : 5 posts by 4 authors. Attachments (1)

An Avicenia plant, growing about 4km upstream of Chittagong Port on Karnaphuli River Bank, There is no Mangrove vegetation, the plant has
grown in isolation, note the Pneumatophores, perhaps required during high tides.

From the overall profile it appears like it is Sonneratia sp. (most probably S.apetala) rather than an Avicennia sp. But it is still a speculation as the image is a long shot. But certainly it doesnt appear like Avicennia.

Sending one more pic. Yes, it looks more like Sonneratia apetala.

It is actually a Sonneratia species. You can make it out from the bark as well as canopy. Leaves are also more less clearly visible.
